Electric Dog Fences: Let Technology Take Care of Your Dog
The best way to restrict a pet to a certain area is by installing electric dog fences. They are preferred by dog owners because they don't need wires or cables that get in the way of the pets or the people that live in the house. In previous years, invisible dog fences were installed in the same manner than electric dog fences. However, today the installation is much easier and simpler.
These type of fences work by using different types of transmitters. These can be used inside the house or outside of it, depending on the specifications of the product. Part of the specifications include the radio signals that are emitted by the transmitters and that can be detected by a small gadget that has been inserted in the dog's collar. The owner of the pet can place the transmitter anywhere in his or her property and set the radius of operation of the transmitter as well. The transmitted signals reflect as a warning beep if the dog goes near the boundary limit and if the dog gnores the warning, a harmless electric shock is given to correct the actions of the dog.
Functions
The containment levels of electric dog fences can be set through adjusting the level of electric shocks depending upon the size and temperament of the dog. The collars are powered by batteries; in some cases the batteries can be recharged, while in others the batteries should be replaced after they run out of energy. Most of these devices are resistant to water and they can be safely used during bad weather.
Points to Consider
You should keep certain things in mind when it comes to selecting your wireless dog fence:
Consider not only the purchase cost, but also the maintenance costs that you'll incur in periodically.
It's better to buy from an established supplier with a local waranty than from a company in the other side of the world with little accountability.
Take care in choosing superior quality battery replacements
If possible and if the system allows it, set a back up power system in case there is a blackout.
Your dog size and specific behavior also play a role.
Slow Internet on laptop,please help?
Ok i have Sprint's MiFi internet (a wireless portable wifi router) and its very slow with my laptop and in the right lower corner of my laptop it sais signal excelent and speed 54Mbps,why 54mbps?? ive seen computers that go up to 100.Ive been thinking of changing internet but im afraid that my laptop would make it slow too
It is 54Mbps not MB!
54 is the max rate for IEEE_802.11g wireless adapters. THAT is why you are at that particular speed. However, that is simply the LINK speed connecting your laptop to your hub. It takes the place of a wire which could go to 100 or maybe even 1000! Anyway, the next step up is IEEE_80211n which can go 3x as fast as your 54mb/s to as fast as 150mb/s. The real question is this: where is your slowest link in the chain? Think of the wireless link as a stretch of freeway with paved roads leading to and from. No matter HOW fast you go on the freeway portion, you are still limited before you get on and after you get off be external factors. By the way, I have a wired home network which communicates at 10mb/s which is what the first twisted pair ethernet worked at. It used to be at 802.11b would connect at 2mb/s and was the bottleneck. 802.11b could connect as fast as 11mb/s, but only at very short ranges, 20-30 feet. At 60 feet, 2mb/s was as fast as my test platform would go. I think if you have a bottleneck, it isn't the 54mb/s section of the road. I just put an 802.11n adapter on order this past week which should arrive in a few days. With an 802.11n link, I should be able to get the wireless portion to 150mb/s.
Nintendo 3DS gets free airport Wi-Fi (Albuquerque Journal)

Fasten your seatbelts, proprietors of the Nintendo 3DS.
Boingo Wireless, a provider for Wi-Fi at 42 airports in North America, is now
providing free hot spot Internet access for the 3DS gaming console.
Traditionally, getting on a Wi-Fi connection at an airport through your laptop
or tablet is a depressing moment. Many of you have had that experience of
wasting dozens of dollars on a mediocre Internet connection only used for a
few hours at best.
I always groan when I have to pull out the credit card and type in my
financial details into the antiquated wireless authorization system,
especially after spending a small fortune at Sbarro or the sports bar.
With the latest Nintendo 3DS system update, gamers can play online hassle-free
at Chicago's O'Hare, New York's JFK, Houston's George Bush Intercontinental,
and other major hubs. Nintendo is serious about providing free Wi-Fi for 3DS
owners--it now offers access at 28,000 locations in North America.
