Apple Unveils ThunderBolt With Launch Of Macbook Pro 2011
The 56th birthday of Apple CEO Jobs, February 24, was they day chosen by the business to show off Macbook Pro 2011. The hype surrounding the MacBook Pro 2011 is focused on a brand new I/O technology by Intel called Light Peak. Apple is the first to adopt Light Peak and has rebranded the technology as ThunderBolt on the new MacBook Pro.
How fast the ThunderBolt can go
Apple's new MacBook Pro looks identical to the previous model, except for ThunderBolt, an innovation that has captivated technology industry pundits. Dual channel transfer rates as high as 10 gigabits per second is what ThunderBolt is known for while previously being Intel’s Light Peak. It's seen by Apple as the I/O technology of the future that will eventually displace USB 3.0. ThunderBolt will allow MacBook Pro users to transfer an HD film as large as 20 gigabytes from another source in less than 30 seconds, according to Intel. The brand new Apple MacBook Pro has five models accessible. These contain two that are 13-inches, 2 that are 15-inches and one that is 17-inches. Prices run $1,200 to $2,500 before choices. Intel’s Core i5 or i7 processors could be in all MacBooks in either dual or quad core versions.
FireWire is not nearly as fast as ThunderBolt is
Thunderbolt technology offers the flexibility of FireWire with transfer speeds up to three times faster. Only one port for ThunderBolt is needed, just like FireWire, for MacBook Pro as the devices could be interconnected for Thunderbolt. ThunderBolt also supplies power, eliminating the need for external power adapters for peripherals. ThunderBolt will figure out the meant use automatically with the one interface for several functions. The technology will work as an interface for every little thing from external hard drives to display monitors. Optical cables were used for Intel’s Light Peak prototypes. Apple’s ThunderBolt has copper wires instead.
Change seen within Apple too
There can be ThunderBolt devices shipped soon. It will start in the spring of this year. Meanwhile, Apple's ThunderBolt taps peripherals directly to the PCI interface, enabling it to support FireWire and USB adapters. On the MacBook Pro coming out, there is one FireWire 800 port. There can be 2 USB 2.0 ports though. In 1998, Apple stopped floppy drive use and created a laptop last year without an optical drive, the MacBook Air. The ThunderBolt will bring Apple ahead of competition once again. To catch up to Apple, PC manufacturers will likely change to ThunderBolt. This is anticipated to take place in 2012.
