Knowing How Hearing Aids Work Will Help Improve Your Experience
How hearing aids really work is not something the average person stops to think about. On the other hand hearing devices are somewhat of a mystery in their own right. Of course there have been many advances over the last few decades of crude models which are impressive to say the least. The digital programming capabilities we've seen evolve over the last ten years have added to the major improvements we've seen.
Your physician or hearing pathologist is now more capable of matching your hearing profile with the perfect device operations for you. The only way that is possible is through software programming. What you will read in the information that follows is some valuable information regarding the usage of hearing aid devices to help improve the quality of your hearing. Also, if you are beginning to get older, it is a good idea to start checking out senior insurance. Make sure that you look at this article about funeral insurance, highly recommended.
So much more processing power is available with digital technology in hearing aids. The biggest difference between what's available now and the analog circuits available then is the flexibility and precision of the less crude models now. Below we will discuss a person with limited or difficult hearing where low volume or soft sounds are concerned. The digital hearing aid can manipulate low amplitude sounds, after proper filtration, to produce a correspondingly soft sound to the person wearing the device. Sounds that seem too loud can also be filtered with the volume amplitude adjustments of the volume controls on these hearing aids.
One of the long standing issues with older design and technology hearing aids was unwanted feedback. The acoustics of the ear naturally lent itself to the creation of feedback. The reality is that most of us have heard feedback at one point in time or another. Often times it is described as a high pitched squeal that hurts our ears. Smaller devices have proven effective in treating this condition. These smaller devices, such as those referred to as invisible hearing aids, are effective because of the decrease in distance from the ear drum. This is because the overall amount of sound waves that can reverberate is reduced to stop the production of feedback.
Varying degrees of hearing loss symptoms appear with each and every person. The type of symptoms that you experienced with your hearing loss depends upon its severity. Current designs of the invisible hearing aid are directed toward helping people with severe loss. Basically this is a function of developing the technology to place the device much deeper into the ear. Currently, deeper placements of the hearing device into the ear, and transmitter improvements, are currently being done. When sufficient improvements are achieved, the eventual goal is to allow the user to wear the device permanently. Over the years, the invisible hearing aid has been greatly improved. Further improvements and refinements in this device will depend upon advancements in technology. If you are interested in this type of hearing aid, then of course the best thing is to speak with your doctor. Last but not least, remember to read this article about senior citizens health insurance.
3 microphones to record drums - which midi interface?
I found a bargain http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-XMD-Drum-Microphone-Package/dp/B0002L8950/ref=sr_1_42?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1233851722&sr=1-42
and I want to buy these microphones and then record my drums. But I guess I need a MIDI-USB interface to do this - am I right? Which one would you suggest (links would be great). I will need a very cheap one btw. thanks
You need a USB audio interface - you cannot connect mics to a MIDI interface.
Another option would be to get a 4 or more channel audio mixer and then send the mixed output of that to your audio interface for recording.
